Intro.: A Moment in Time with Dan Roberts.

Content: The numerical assignment of each year's designation has proceeded through the centuries without prejudice. A new number is assigned each time the planet makes its long and arduous revolution. Yet, occasionally, historical reflection allots certain years a consequence far beyond the normal passage of time. 1066, 1348, 1492, 1776, 1814, 1865, 1914, 1945. Each have claimed a hold on the imagination far exceeding their fellows. 1968 should probably be counted among those special years but for darker reasons. It was, in the words of one author, the year America the Beautiful turned ugly.
